Conflict, or Storming, is natural, inevitable, and essential to our life and ministry together.
However, many believers and congregations do not know how to navigate safely through these Storms in ways that will strengthen, and not destroy, our relationships and ministry.
Longing to Belong: Conflict Transformation is a Biblical process designed to equip congregations to navigate
through the inevitable conflict in all relationships and ministries.
At the completion of the Longing to Belong process, participants will have:
• Clear understanding of the role and importance of healthy conflict in all relationships
• Clear Biblical understanding of what it means to belong to Jesus Christ and to the Body of Christ, His Church
• Essential Biblical skills needed to navigate safely and effectively through conflict
• Biblical context to create an environment of confession and forgiveness among believers
• Essential functional and relational boundaries to protect the integrity of relationships and ministry together
• Understanding of the practice of Christian conferencing through which key issues can be identified
• Identification of and Biblical responses to key obstacles (including sin issues) that must be overcome to move forward in ministry together.
Longing to Belong is available through three options:
- Self-facilitated Model. (Available in early 2010)
Utilizing a Longing to Belong Leaders Kit, the church will guide their own process to learn essential skills for handling conflict, to establish necessary functional and relational boundaries, and to identify key issues to move forward. Longing to Belong Leaders Kit includes Facilitator’s Guide, Longing to Belong study and training DVDs, and participant books.
- Self-facilitated Model with Spiritual Coaching. (Available now.)
Plowpoint staff works with pastor and another lay leader (such as Chair of Deacons, Administrative Council Chair, Lay Leader) to provide “behind the scenes” coaching to supplement the Self-facilitated Model described above. Also includes assessments and spiritual coaching for pastor and one other lay leader.
- Plowpoint-facilitated Model. (Available now.)
Plowpoint staff guide the on-site process over three (3) three-day weekends. Includes on-site Longing to Belong workshop, development of relational covenant, storytelling to identify key issues, identification and teaching on key issues, spiritual coaching for pastor and other leadership, and worship celebration of healing.
