The West African country of Liberia has pulled through a devastating civil war lasting from 1989-2003. The nation’s economy, infrastructure and society suffered greatly during this lengthy and dangerous war. With extremely high unemployment and an average yearly income of US$170, Liberia and its people are struggling.
Just for comparison, note that the per capita income for Afghanistan is $260 and $690 for Vietnam.
And to make it all worse, the Liberian government estimates 85 percent of formal workers are unemployed or underemployed.
So, pastors, with an average salary of $30, find it almost impossible to afford to send their children to school.
Help us send the Children of Liberian Pastors to school. The annual fee for one child is $250. This represents 70% of the average pastor’s annual salary. Many of us probably spend $250 on cell phones or eating out. Imagine. Your monthly cell phone bill could send a child to school for an entire year. Can you help? These children and families need your help.
